Webber leads Kings' comeback win

RECAP | BOX SCORE | GAME FLOW

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Franchise records are falling in Sacramento.

Eddie Jones
Heat guard Eddie Jones eyes the basket as Sacramento's Chris Webber (4) and Jon Barry (20) collapse.
Chris Webber scored 19 points and led seven players in double figures as the Kings rallied from a 24-point deficit and beat the Miami Heat 101-97 on Sunday night.

Sacramento improved to 14-4, the best start in franchise history.

"The NBA is a long game," said Sacramento guard Jon Barry, who scored a season-high 14 points. "Miami has a tendency to let teams back into games. But for us to come back is really something."

Jason Williams scored 15 points and Jon Barry added 14 for the Kings, who won their sixth straight home game and ended a seven-game losing streak against Miami.

Sacramento, which shot a season-best 28-for-31 from the line, improved to 10-1 at home. It's the best home start since the franchise won its first 23 games as the Rochester Royals during the 1949-50 season.

"In the first half we weren't good," said Sacramento coach Rick Adelman, whose team shot 26.9 percent in the first quarter. "But when Bobby (Jackson) came in, he played very well and we played much better defense in the second half."

Tim Hardaway scored 20 of his 25 points in the first half for Miami, which led 41-17 early in the second quarter.

Webber, who made one of his first nine shots, grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds and shot 9-for-26 from the field.

Brian Grant contributed 19 points and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds for Miami.

"For whatever reason, a lack of effort on our part allowed them to come back into the game," said Grant. "It got ridiculous there for a minute, but you've got to expect that on the road."

Williams hit consecutive 3-pointers, giving Sacramento a 73-67 lead with 3:25 left in the third quarter. The Kings, who outscored Miami 30-16 in the period, held an 80-75 lead at the start of the fourth quarter.

Miami twice held a 23-point lead in the first quarter. But the Kings, with four reserves in the lineup, went on a 16-4 run in the first 5:21 of the second period.

Barry scored 11 points in the first half as Sacramento closed to 57-50. Miami held a 59-50 lead at halftime.

Game notes
Sacramento coach Rick Adelman received a technical at the end of the first quarter. Referee Marc Davis called the foul and yelled at Adelman, "You touched me. Don't touch me." ... Guard Nick Anderson, who started 72 games last season, was benched for the sixth time in seven games. ... Sacramento has not allowed a visiting opponent to score 100 points this season.
