GAME FLOW
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- If the Milwaukee Bucks pass the ball, the
results are usually positive. They had 32 assists and shot 50
pecent in a 108-97 victory over Boston on Thursday night.
"We are a better team when we move the basketball, period,"
said Milwaukee coach George Karl, whose team has a season-high
three-game winning streak. "Every man in our locker room knows
that rotating the ball is the key to offensive success and when we
do that we win ballgames."
Milwaukee scored 100 or more for the fourth straight game, as
Glenn Robinson matched a season-high with 25 points to go with
eight assists and five rebounds. Sam Cassell added 19 points and a
season-high 14 assists.
"We get a lot of confidence when we keep making shots," said
Robinson, who was 12-of-17 from the field. "We're moving the ball
better and we're winning games."
Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 34 points, shooting 10-of-14
from the field and 10-of-11 from the free-throw line. Antoine
Walker added 20 points and eight rebounds.
"Our first-unit guys could not stop their first-unit guys,"
Boston coach Rick Pitino said. "That was the difference in the
game."
Milwaukee, which had a 19-point lead in the first half, had to
hold off a rally in the fourth quarter. Boston used an 8-0 run to
trim Milwaukee's lead to 88-84 with 8:22 left in the game as Eric
Williams hit two 3-pointers and Bryant Stith scored a layup off a
Bucks' turnover.
But Tim Thomas, who finished with 17 points, scored six straight
to give Milwaukee a 94-84 lead with 6:41 left. Boston could not get
closer than seven points the rest of the way.
"Nobody got nervous or anything like that," Thomas said. "We
knew they were going to come back and fight. We just kept our
composure. When they did make their run, we just ran back at
them."
Milwaukee made five of six 3-pointers in the first quarter and
used a 24-7 run to close out the period with a 36-19 lead.
A basket by Lindsey Hunter to open the second quarter gave the
Bucks a 19-point lead -- their biggest of the game.
