BOX SCORE
CHICAGO (AP) _ Ray Allen scored 22 points and the boo birds were out in full force for Tim Thomas as the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Chicago Bulls 100-90 in an exhibition game Wednesday night. A free agent this summer, Thomas flirted with the Bulls before taking less money to stay in Milwaukee. He was booed every time he touched the ball, but it didn't affect his game at all as he finished with 17 points _ including a perfect 10-of-10 from the line. ``That meant absolutely nothing to me,'' Thomas said. ``I was just trying to work on my game, trying to get my team better.'' Sam Cassell added 20 for the Bucks, and Glenn Robinson had 18. Elton Brand led the Bulls with 20 points despite missing part of the first half with the flu. Ron Mercer had 14, and rookies Marcus Fizer and Jamal Crawford added 12 each. Crawford, getting the most playing time he's had in the preseason, was 4-of-9 from the 3-point line, but 4-of-13 overall. He also had four turnovers to go with his four rebounds and two steals. ``He has a flamboyance for the game,'' Milwaukee coach George Karl said of Crawford, who left Michigan after playing only 17 games his freshman year. ``I think he's going to have to learn the fundamentals, but he has a spice for the game that's pretty impressive for a young kid. And that's what he is.'' The Bulls were, as usual, hurt by turnovers. They gave the ball away 25 times, and the Bucks turned the miscues into 25 points. Milwaukee looked well on its way to a rout as Allen turned two steals into back-to-back driving layups that gave the Bucks a 65-43 lead with 8:13 left in the third. But the Bulls rallied, getting to 72-70 on Fizer's 15-foot jumper with 9:01 left to play. Brand's three-point play with 5:19 left in the third started the 20-3 run that pulled them within five at the end of the quarter. And in what could be the most promising sign for the Bulls, Brand scored only five points during the run. Mercer had six, Khalid El-Amin had five and Jake Voskuhl, making his preseason debut, made a pair of free throws. ``We're going to need that throughout the year,'' Mercer said. ``It's good they're stepping up now.'' But after Fizer's jumper, the Bucks answered with a layup from Cassell and a 3-pointer from Lindsey Hunter to push their lead back to 79-72. The Bulls managed to get within four with 56 seconds left on a 3-pointer by Crawford, but they couldn't get any closer. ``I think in the first quarter we played fantastic. Then Chicago outworked us the rest of the way,'' Karl said. ''... I thought defensively we were pretty good the last five or six minutes.''
