DENVER (AP) _ Antonio Harvey had 16 points and six rebounds, and Portland Trail Blazers made the key shots near the end for an 83-81 victory over the Denver Nuggets in an exhibition game Saturday night. Denver's Keon Clark had 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench, but committed a key charging foul that led to two clinching free throws by Damon Stoudamire in the closing seconds. The Trail Blazers, 3-3 in the preseason, scored the final seven points of the first half, the last two coming on a put-back basket by Bonzi Wells to take a 47-43 lead. Portland extended its lead to 54-45 on a 3-pointer by Scottie Pippen early in the third quarter, but nine points from Raef LaFrentz keyed a 15-4 run as Denver (2-4) led 60-58. Pippen and Steve Smith hit 3-pointers, and Antonio Harvey buried a pair of rebound baskets enabling Portland to take a 72-66 lead into the fourth quarter. The Trail Blazers missed their first nine shots of the last quarter and didn't score until Shawn Kemp hit a 15-foot jump shot with 5:48 left, but still led 74-70. The Nuggets drew within 78-76 with 1:12 to go on Clark's short jumper. But Wells countered with a running one-hander with 18 seconds left. Then Dale Davis drew a charging foul from Clark, putting Stoudamire on the line for two clinching free throws. Rasheed Wallace and Stoudamire added 11 points each for Portland. LaFrentz had 15 points and four rebounds for the Nuggets.
