CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) _ Jamal Mashburn scored 22 points and David Wesley added 18 to lead the Charlotte Hornets to a 99-90 victory over the New Jersey Nets in an exhibition game Wednesday night. The Nets, who lost forward Keith Van Horn for 4-6 weeks Tuesday when he broke his left leg, got 18 points from Stephen Jackson. The Hornets (3-1) were without center Elden Campbell, who missed the game with an inflamed left elbow. Charlotte was also without forward Derrick Coleman, who is out for the entire preseason because of new heart medication. They didn't miss either player. Guards David Wesley and Baron Davis combined for 15 first-quarter points to give Charlotte a 32-18 lead. Charlotte moved out to a 67-52 lead with 5:02 left in the third quarter when Wesley tossed up an alley-oop pass that Davis dunked. Wesley, Charlotte's scoring leader in the preseason, finished 7-of-10 from the floor. Eldridge Recasner scored 13 points, while Davis and P.J. Brown added 12 points each. The Nets (1-3) were able to pull within 12, 69-57, after a 3-pointer by Marbury and a free throw by Kevin Ollie. But New Jersey was scoreless the final 4:22 of the third period and Charlotte extended its lead to 75-57. Sherman Douglas and Stephon Marbury scored 14 points each, and Aaron Williams added 13 for New Jersey.
