WASHINGTON (AP) _ Washington Wizards reserve Aaron Williams scored a career-high 27 points in a 100-94 victory over Detroit on Saturday night, extending the Pistons' road losing streak to 11 games.

Rod Strickland added 14 points and Gerard King 11 for the Wizards, who snapped a three-game losing streak at home.

Jerry Stackhouse had 26 points _ 17 in the third quarter _ and Grant Hill 24 for the Pistons, who have lost three straight.

Williams and King each scored four points and Chris Whitney made a 3-pointer during a key 11-0 run early in the fourth quarter.

A pair of free throws by Stackhouse cut the Wizards' lead to 89-88 with 3:58 left. But Juwan Howard hit a baseline jumper and King made a shot from 20 feet out to stop Washington's comeback.

Christian Laettner had 10 first-quarter points, and a pair of free throws by Hill gave Detroit a 26-20 lead with 1:32 remaining in the period. But Williams had eight points in a 13-0 Washington run during the next 4:40.

Six straight points by Hill erased the Wizards' lead and started the Pistons on a 16-5 run for a 42-38 lead.

Washington ended the half with a 6-0 run to break a 42-42 tie on a jumper by Strickland with 15.5 seconds remaining.

Stackhouse and Hill combined for 17 points as Detroit outscored the Wizards 19-8 during a 5:33 span midway through the third quarter. But the Pistons never led by more than five points and Washington's Richard Hamilton scored the final three points for a 73-73 tie.

Notes: The Pistons' starting five played the entire first quarter and coach Alvin Gentry didn't make a substitution until 50 seconds into the second period. ... Rookie center Calvin Booth, on the Wizards' injured list with a strained right hamstring since the start of the season, is close to being activated. ... The longest road losing streak in Detroit history was a 19-game tailspin between Dec. 5, 1980 and Feb. 7, 1981. ... Washington is 7-4 against the Central Division, its most victories against any division.
