Red Sox aren't sure if he'll make next scheduled start

ATLANTA -- Red Sox ace Pedro Martinez threw about 50 pitches from the mound in the bullpen Sunday, and said he felt fine following the throwing session. The Red Sox are not sure yet if Pedro will make his next scheduled start Thursday.

Friday, Martinez threw for 10 minutes on the side and reported no problems.

Martinez, sidelined with a sore right shoulder, missed his first turn in the rotation this season. He was scheduled to pitch against Greg Maddux and the Atlanta Braves on Friday.

Martinez first experienced soreness in his shoulder as he was warming up before a 5-2 loss against Philadelphia.

"I still feel it," Martinez told The Boston Globe on Saturday referring to the soreness, which the Sox have diagnosed as tendinitis. "But I feel better, a lot better."

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
