TORONTO (AP) -- Alex Rodriguez called it his best game ever.

Rodriguez hit three homers and drove in seven runs -- both career highs -- and the Seattle Mariners routed the Toronto Blue Jays 19-7 Sunday for a convincing three-game sweep.

"Number one," Rodriguez said. "I've never had a game like this. I've dreamt about having a game like this, but I never thought it would happen."

Rodriguez scored five times, going 4-for-5. He hit a solo homer in the first inning and a two-run shot in the fourth.

With the bases loaded in the eighth, Rodriguez narrowly missed a grand slam off Pedro Borbon when a liner down the left-field line hooked foul. Rodriguez jumped up in anticipation when he thought the ball would go out, but slumped his shoulders when it did not.

"I was hoping. I was running down the line and doing everything I could to keep it fair," Rodriguez said. "But it didn't work."

On the next pitch, Rodriguez hit a towering drive over the wall in left-center field for his seventh career slam.

"I'm just thankful," Rodriguez said. "When you have a day like today, your teammates are a big part of it."

Two pitches later, Borbon hit John Olerud. Rodriguez stared at Borbon from the dugout, but no one left the benches.

"I hope they didn't take offense," Rodriguez said. "When you play a game that you love you are going to show emotion."

Olerud went 4-for-4 and scored three times.

Jay Buhner homered, doubled and had five RBI for Seattle, which had 22 hits. Mike Cameron also homered for the Mariners, who have won eight straight against Toronto.

Carlos Delgado hit two homers for the Blue Jays, who have lost five in a row at home. Brad Fullmer also connected for Toronto.

The Mariners outscored the Blue Jays 47-22 in the series, having won 11-9 on Friday and 17-6 on Saturday.

"They really put it to us this weekend and showed who is boss," Toronto catcher Darrin Fletcher said. "They bombed us."

Seattle took a 2-0 lead in the first on Rodriguez's homer and Buhner's RBI double off Chris Carpenter (0-3).

Delgado's two-run homer and Tony Batista's RBI double made it 3-2 in the bottom half off Freddy Garcia (2-1).

Cameron hit a two-run homer in the second, and RBI singles by Edgar Martinez and Buhner gave Seattle a 6-3 lead in the third.

Delgado's homer over the Hard Rock Cafe restaurant in right-center field cut it to 6-4 in the bottom half.

Rodriguez's two-homer in the fourth made it 8-4. Buhner's three-run shot in the sixth made it 12-6.

"Alex got good pitches to hit and that's why he had a great day," Toronto manager Jim Fregosi said.
