BOX SCORE
HAINES CITY, Fla. (AP) _ Dan Reichert increased his chances to make the Kansas City staff by throwing three hitless innings in the Royals' 7-3 split-squad victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. Reichert, the Royals' top-pick in the 1997 draft, allowed a walk to Anthony Sanders in working the middle three innings. In six relief outings, Reichert has held opponents to a .185 batting average and has a 1.84 ERA. The Royals have been moving Reichert from a starter to the bullpen. The Royals scored five runs _ three earned _ in the first three innings off Clayton Andrews, who is a candidate for the fifth slot in the Blue Jays' rotation. Johnny Damon led off the first with a walk and scored on Carlos Febles' double. Febles advanced to third on Dave McCarty's single and scored on Jermaine Dye's ground out. Joe Randa led off the Royals' second with a double, moved to third on a ground out and scored on Gregg Zaun's sacrifice fly. Shortstop Alex Gonzalez' error in the third led to two unearned Kansas City runs. Scott Pose had a two-run double in the eighth to finish the Royals' scoring. Luis Lopez had two of the Blues Jays' 10 hits and scored a run, while Jose Cruz doubled and singled.
