Book on DE Andre Carter

Here's a rundown of what I've had to say about California DE ANDRE CARTER since the beginning of the college-football season.

March 21
Reliable, hard-working football player with an ideal approach to the game.

Feb. 28
After weighing just 249 pounds in Indy, Carter has lost some ground, especially with the strong effort turned in by Justin Smith.

Feb. 7
Reliable, hard-working, extremely solid all-around performer. Will qualify as a safe pick in the early-to-mid first round area.

Jan.12
Not a dominant pass-rusher but was very solid and reliable over his college career. He's not a sack artist but had 4.5 sacks in two games vs. USC and Oregon. So solid against the run that he will give you a complete game from the end position.

Jan. 4
Not only an effective pass-rusher, but Carter holds up his end of the bargain as a run stopper as well.

Dec. 31
Although he won't always dominate with his pass rush skills, what elevates Carter to into the early portion of round one are his reliable performance on gameday. There were several occasions this season when he did manage to take over games, despite garnering so much attention from the opposition. He was at his best in Cal's upset victory over USC, recording nine tackles (eight unassisted), four stops behind the line, four QB pressures, and 22 sacks. Against Oregon he also recorded a pair of sacks.

Dec. 7
Enjoyed a solid year for the Golden Bears, but wasn't able to consistently take over games and wreak havoc.

Nov. 22
In Cal's 36-30 overtime loss to Stanford, Carter recorded three tackles, one stop behind the line, and two sacks before spraining his foot late in the game.

Nov. 15
The Golden Bears battled Oregon to the whistle in Eugene, continuing to show they could be ready to kick in the door next season. Against the Ducks, Carter again flashed future Pro Bowl potential, finishing with a pair of sacks.

Nov. 8
Wasn't able to provide a dominating effort against Oregon State last week, but he was solid throughout the contest, finishing with three tackles, one sack for a nine-yard loss and two QB pressures.

Nov. 1
Came through with a dominating performance in Cal's upset victory over USC last week, recording nine tackles (eight unassisted), four stops behind the line, four QB pressures, and 2 sacks. He also caused a fumble that was recovered by Cal at the USC seven yard line.

Oct. 26
Came through with a solid effort against Washington last week, finishing with one sack and three QB pressures; he also caused a fumble that Cal returned 34 yards for a touchdown.
