Los Angeles Galaxy and U.S. national team defender Greg Vanney has agreed to terms with Major League Soccer on a new four-year contract, ESPN The Magazine has learned.
The news of Vanney's new deal comes in the wake of Spanish media reports that the 24-year-old defender was going to join American striker Ante Razov with the Spanish second-division club Racing de Ferrol.
Vanney did seem to be leaning toward a move to Spain as late as Tuesday afternoon, but his New York-based agent Ron Waxman said Wednesday that Vanney had made up his mind to remain with Los Angeles and that "all the contract needed was a signature." Jeff Bradley is a senior writer for ESPN The Magazine.
