The Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced that the 10th annual High School All-America game will be played April 7 at the Hartford Civic Center (Conn.). The teams, which will feature 20 of the nation's elite players, will be chosen in early March. ...

Central Bucks West High (Pa.) head football coach Mike Carey, who has coached for 24 years in all, quit after just one season with the school. Carey led the team to a 14-1 record and lost to Erie Cathedral Prep, 41-35, in overtime in the PIAA Class AAAA state title game. Carey said the reason he quit was to devote more time to his family.

Midwest
Benton Harbor High (Mich.) basketball star Robert Whaley, who is headed to the University of Missouri next season, has been ordered to stand trial on charges of nonconsensual sex with a 13-year-old girl. The decision was made last Tuesday after a county judge heard the testimony of the girl. No trial date has been set, and Whaley, who is averaging 18.2 points and eight rebounds per game this season, is free on a $10,000 bond. The 18-year-old was charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. ...

West Aurora High (Ill.) wrestler Israel Martinez has been kicked off the team for violating team rules, and the senior won't be able to attempt to win his fourth straight state crown. Martinez has compiled a career record of 116-1, with his only defeat coming in his first match as a freshman. He has won state crowns at 112, 130 and 145 pounds and was wrestling in the 152-pound class this season.

Cold Springs School (Ala.) girls' basketball player Kasey Willbanks set two state records in her team's 94-86 victory over West Point High on Friday night. The senior connected on 27 of 28 free throws, which set state marks for free throws attempted and made in a single game. The previous record was held by Woodlawn High's Victora Crawford, who was 20 of 27 from the charity stripe in a game earlier this season. Willbanks scored 47 points in the game.

Southwest
Boerne High (Texas) senior girls' basketball player Tori Talbert became the 39th player to ever eclipse the 3,000-point mark in her career when she poured in 30 points against New Braunfels High last Tuesday. Talbert, who is averaging 31.3 points per game this season, has scored 3,005 points in her career and has failed to reach double digits just twice during her four seasons. ...

Salt Lake City West High (Utah) senior boys' basketball player Marcus Wolfgramm has been suspended indefinitely and faces assault charges after punching an Olympus High player during a game last week. Wolfgramm broke Olympus senior center Elliott Maher's jaw during the first quarter of Oly's 98-73 victory on Jan. 19. Maher had surgery on his jaw and will miss the rest of the season.

West
San Diego High (Calif.) girls' basketball coach Anthony Wines was fired and has been replaced by Earl Hines for the rest of the season. JV coach Marlon Wells, a former player at the school, will help coach the varsity team once the regular season ends and will become the full-time varsity coach next season. The Lady Cavers are 16-3 this year.
