Bull market dominates ESPYs in Las Vegas
The Chicago Bulls languished in last place in the NBA Central this season, but what a decade they had, as evidenced by the ESPY Awards in Las Vegas on Feb. 14. The Bulls, Michael Jordan and Phil Jackson all won Decade awards for their amazing six NBA titles in 10 seasons. In this millennium year, in addition to the Decade honors, the 2000 ESPY Awards unveiled the top performers of 1999. Movie and television actor Jimmy Smits was host of the event for the first time. The festivities, televised by ESPN, were held at a new venue -- the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Columbine High School coach and teacher William "Dave" Sanders, who lost his life during last April's tragic shootings, was chosen as the recipient of the eighth annual Arthur Ashe Award for Courage.
