With Championship Week here, it is time for veteran players to step up. This is especially true for teams battling to earn NCAA bids.

The Huskies are coming off a tough loss to Seton Hall in the regular-season finale. Now Jim Calhoun's team feels some pressure early in the Big East tournament.

For Connecticut to do well in the postseason, Albert Mouring has to be on fire. His marksmanship is a must. Senior leadership is important and the Huskies need that, along with his fine shooting range.

The Big East tournament figures to be wide open, with many nip-and-tuck battles. Mouring's jump shot could be a difference-maker. Connecticut has so many young weapons, including Caron Butler and Johnnie Selvie. Experience can be important, helping his teammates as well.

Look for Mouring to come through. I still feel the Huskies will get a bid into the NCAA Tournament.
