Word out of the Thursday morning practice session between the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts was mixed but predictable, much to the chagrin of both coaches, Jeff Fisher of Tennessee and Jim Mora of Indianapolis.

Colts QB Peyton Manning picked apart a Tennessee pass defense that has to replace cornerback Denard Walker and safety Marcus Robertson.

However, the Titans' inside running game pretty much dominated the Colts' front defensive seven; that's a sore spot with Mora, who has emphasized being tougher against the run. The worse news is that the Titans weren't running with Eddie George, who is about two weeks away from cutting loose after offseason toe surgery.

The Titans and Colts will move their practice sessions at the Titans complex to Adelphia Coliseum on Saturday morning for a scrimmage. Some 46,000 tickets already have been sold at $10 each, causing some good-natured joking about whether Manning -- a legend at the University of Tennessee -- should get a cut of the gate.

Manning will continue to wear a dark protective shield to protect a virus that has attacked the retina of his right eye. He has suffered from blurred vision and enough pain to describe it to friends as "like getting bad chlorine in your eye." He also has suffered some bothersome light sensitivity, and has been placed in a pseudo-"quarantine" because the virus is considered contagious.
