ALBANY, N.Y. -- He's been bounced from boxing in Las Vegas, now Mike Tyson can't ply his trade in his home state. New York State Athletic Commissioner Ray Kelly -- who's also the New York City police commissioner -- says he will abide by Nevada's decision not to reinstate the former champ's license to fight. Tyson grew up in Brooklyn and later in the upstate town of Catskill. Nevada officials voted not to give Tyson a license on Tuesday. The Tyson camp has been looking for other locations to fight heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis. In New York, Tyson has had several brushes with the law. Las Vegas police say they are investigating sexual assault complaints from two women and prosecutors plan to meet on Friday to review the accusations. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. |
