INDIANAPOLIS -- Pole-sitter Joe Ruttman led 143 of 200 laps
at Indianapolis Raceway Park on Thursday night and won the
Powerstroke 200, his second victory this season in the NASCAR
Craftsman Truck series.
Ruttman's Dodge finished 0.859 seconds -- about 10 truck-lengths
-- in front of second-time starter Lyndon Amick's Chevrolet. Rookie
Jamie McMurray finished third in a Dodge.
Ruttman's 10th career victory was worth $49,315. The 55-year-old
Ruttman, one of only two drivers to have competed in all six series
events at the .686-mile track, averaged 75.065 mph over the 137.2
miles.
Six drivers traded the lead 10 times and there were 10 cautions
for a total of 53 laps.
Ruttman took the lead for the final time from Jack Sprague on
the 160th lap.
Mike Wallace finished fourth, edging Greg Biffle. Biffle, who
received five points for leading the race, maintained his 193-point
lead over Wallace with six races remaining on the 24-event
schedule.
Kurt Busch finished sixth and was followed by Dennis Setzer,
Bryan Reffner, Jimmy Hensley and Randy Tolsma. The first 12
finishers all completed the 200 laps.
