Darling goes to Lynx in dispersal draft

Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Lynx selected Helen Darling with the seventh pick in the WNBA dispersal draft of Cleveland Rockers players held Tuesday.

The 5-foot-6 guard averaged 4.1 points and 3.8 assists a game last season. Darling was selected 17th overall by the Rockers in the 2000 draft.

Sixteen players were available to be selected in the one-round draft, including those players who did not play last season, but to whom the Rockers had negotiating rights.

Teams drafted in inverse order of their regular season finish in 2003.

Former Lynx guard Betty Lennox went to Seattle with the sixth pick in the dispersal draft.
