Center Ujhelyi activated to replace Ford

Associated Press

DETROIT -- The Detroit Shock placed forward Cheryl Ford on the injured list with a lower back strain and activated center Petra Ujhelyi before their game Monday night against the Washington Mystics.

Ford, a top candidate for the 2003 WNBA Rookie of the Year award, averaged 10.8 points and 10.4 rebounds in 32 games during her rookie season. She was one of only three players to average a double-double for the season.

The Shock (25-9), which beat the Mystics 68-60 on Monday, clinched the best record in the WNBA on Saturday and became the first team in any major sport since 1890 to finish atop the entire league the year after finishing last.
