Sparks, Liberty coaches in All-Star Game

Associated Press

NEW YORK -- Los Angeles' Michael Cooper and New York's Richie Adubato were chosen Thursday to coach in this season's WNBA All-Star game.

Cooper, the league's coach of the year in 2000, led the Sparks to consecutive championships the past two seasons. Cooper has a record of 88-15 in four seasons and the best winning percentage of any coach in league history at .854. It will be his second appearance as coach of the Western Conference All-Star team.

The Sparks were 7-0 heading into play Thursday night. Adubato has led the Liberty to three Eastern Conference titles in his four seasons. This will be his third All-Star appearance. New York is 3-2 this season. The All-Star game will be held July 12 at Madison Square Garden.
