Hewitt will push Agassi around By Luke Jensen Special to ESPN.com
NEW YORK -- What I want to happen and what I think will happen unfortunately is not the same thing, what I want to happen is to see the Bird vs. Magic of the tennis world, which is Agassi vs. Sampras in the final. But what will happen is Lleyton Hewitt will win in four sets over Andre Agassi, and Pete Sampras will win in four sets over Sjeng Schalken.
Lleyton Hewitt (1), Australia, vs. Andre Agassi (6), U.S.
Agassi has to be patient, actually take pace off the ball and go for more placement and make Hewitt generate his own pace. The combination of going for more placement and the court being fast -- compared to the other courts they've played on this year -- is an advantage for Agassi. It's hard to take the teeth out of Agassi's arsenal: which is power.
Pete Sampras (17), U.S., vs. Sjeng Schalken (24), Netherlands
In my mind it still comes down to Pete Sampras: 13 Grand Slams; Sjeng Schalken: 0. Enough said. ![]() |
