KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. -- Two-time champion Monica Seles withdrew from the Nasdaq-100 Open on Friday, saying she hasn't fully recovered from a stress fracture in her left foot.
Seles was hurt while practicing last month. She said she didn't want to rush her return from the injury, which also forced her to miss Indian Wells this month.
"I'm really disappointed,'' she said. "I'm sad that I had to pull out today, but it is the best I can do for my health.''
The 10th-seeded Seles, who won the tournament in 1990 and 1991, withdrew shortly before her opening match. She was replaced in the draw by Evie Dominikovic. |
