| Tip of the Week: Doubles for two By Tony Lance Tennis Magazine | |||
|
Here's the dilemma: You need to work on your doubles game for this weekend's league match, but you can't find three people for practice. What to do? Practice with one person. Here's a great drill that allows two players to hone their doubles skills: One of you serves and the other receives. Begin the point from a doubles serving position. The catch is that each player must hit every shot crosscourt. Just as in doubles, you'll need to cover only half the court, and you'll have less space to hit into. This will force you to use the placement and angles that are so crucial in doubles. Once you've gotten the hang of it, add pressure by keeping score. No shots are off-limits, but not hitting the ball crosscourt costs you the point. Alternate serving every five points; the first player to reach 21 wins. ©Miller Sports Group LLC | |
