MetroStars 5, San Jose 5

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- Cornell Glen scored his second goal of the game in the 90th minute to give the MetroStars a 5-5 tie with the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night.

Glen, making his first Major League Soccer start, also had an assist for the MetroStars (2-1-2).

The MetroStars' Amado Guevara scored on a penalty kick to make it 5-4 after San Jose's Jeff Agoos fouled Glen in the penalty area.

The defending MLS champion Earthquakes dropped to 1-2-3.

Ronnie Ekelund gave San Jose a 4-3 lead in the 58th minute with a penalty kick, awarded when MetroStars defender Ricardo Clark took down Richard Mulrooney in front of the goal. Craig Waibel then added his first career goal to make it 5-3.

Glen opened the scoring in the sixth minute with his first MLS goal, and set up Fabian Taylor's goal in the 45th minute.

Landon Donovan had a hand in all of San Jose's first-half goals. After Glen's first goal, Donovan back-heeled a pass to Brian Ching, who scored in the 13th minute. Chris Brown gave San Jose a 2-1 lead in the 24th minute off another assist from Donovan.

Later, after the MetroStars' Joselito Vaca tied at 2, Donovan scored his first goal of the season in the 43rd minute.
