Wednesday, March 27 Bodine, Nemechek released from team Associated Press STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Joe Nemechek and Todd Bodine are out of Winston Cup rides after Haas-Carter Motorsports suspended racing operations for NASCAR's top circuit. Team owners Travis Carter and Carl Hass said Wednesday the decision stemmed from the bankruptcy filing by primary sponsor Kmart before the season-opening Daytona 500 last month. "The timing could not have been worse for the team to find a replacement," the owners said. Kmart sponsored the cars for the first two races of the year. The Statesville team stopped fielding Bodine's No. 66 following the Las Vegas race after Bodine earned the pole and ran with a one-race backing from Checker Auto Parts. Nemechek's No. 26 car continued running at Atlanta, Darlington, S.C., and last week at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. Haas-Carter released the drivers and other team members so they could pursue other opportunities. Send this story to a friend | Most sent stories |
