2002 recap
The good: The 1991 CART champion flashed his old form a half a dozen times, with one victory, a pair of seconds and a third place, in what turned out to be his 19th, and final, season in champ cars. Also in position to win at Indy before a poor final pit stop.
Season highlight: At Long Beach, where he started 15th, caught a couple of perfect yellows and drove off with his second win at The Beach -- 19 years after scoring his first-ever CART victory in the California streets.
The bad: Only managed one top-five finish in first eight races.
Season lowlight: Crashed out of his CART finale at Mexico City.

| Michael Andretti, left, is bringing Dario Franchitti, right, and Tony Kanaan over to the IRL as teammates in 2003. |
Key stat: Qualified 12th or worse in 12 of 19 starts.
2003 outlook
CART's all-time winner and lap leader became co-owner of Andretti-Green Racing and will be Honda's factory effort in its initial year with the Indy Racing League. Andretti is taking Dario Franchitti and Tony Kanaan with him to the all-oval series.
Prediction: The 40-year-old legend will likely run the first few IRL shows and give Indianapolis one more try before retiring from Indy cars.
