2002 recap
The good: Ryan Hunter-Reay made a big impression as a rookie in the competitive Toyota Atlantic series by scoring three victories and a trio of poles.
Season highlight: Reay led wire-to-wire from the pole at Laguna Seca for his initial Atlantic win.
The bad: The young driver opened the season with three consecutive DNFs.
Season lowlight: Reay led 41 of the first 43 laps at Milwaukee before being knocked out by mechanical failure.
2003 outlook
Reay will join former series champion Jimmy Vasser on Stefan Johansson's newly-formed American Spirit team in CART. The 22-year-old from Boca Raton, Fla., won't have much in the way of preseason testing and is jumping into champ cars after just one year in Atlantics. But he's shown to be a quick learner and that should continue with veteran Vasser showing him the ropes.
