Several schools have received signings during the first days of the Early Period as progams look for immediate help from junior college and prep prospects.
Many of the teams are among the traditional powers. Three junior college football student-athletes have signed national letters of intent to attend UCLA, head coach Karl Dorrell announced. They include defensive lineman Kyle Morgan, tight end Matt Raney and offensive lineman Marc Villafuerte. The Bruins expect to sign two more.
"Kyle, Matt and Marc fill immediate areas of need in our program," said Dorrell. "They will all benefit by participating in Spring Practice and we expect them all to help us next season."
Heading the early list of signees are Utah State (6 prospects), Kentucky (5), BYU (4), Kansas State (4) and Southern Mississippi (4). Others include Texas Tech (3), LSU (3), Boise State (3), Florida (2), Georgia (2), Tennessee (2), Mississippi (2) and Washington (2).
