Maryland has pledges from two outstanding defensive prospects in back Kent Hicks of Culpeper-Culpeper County, Va., over Boston College, Tennessee, Virginia and Virginia Tech; and linebacker Chase Bullock of Durham-Northern, NC., over Clemson, Virginia, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and South Carolina.
Penn State gained its 20th commitment in quarterback Paul Cianciolo of North Charleston-Fort Dorchester, SC., over interest from Clemson, South Carolina, Mississippi, Maryland, North Carolina and UConn. The Nittany Lions recently gained quarterback/defensive back Kevin Suhey of State College-Area, Pa.
Florida State has a firm pledge from receiver Carl Grimes of Detroit-DePorres, Mich., over Michigan State, Virginia Tech, Iowa, North Carolina, Georgia Tech and Iowa. Grimes had once decommitted from Michigan State.
LSU has a commitment from defensive back/receiver Chevis Jackson of Mobile-St. Pauls Episcopal, Ala., over Alabama, Clemson, Louisville and South Carolina.

Defensive back/running back Andre Butler of South Holland-Thornwood, Ill., committed to Northwestern over Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.

Four of Slay's teammates pledged to Tech in mid-October.
Baylor has pledged quarterback Dane King of Gonzales, Tex/Blinn CC, Tex., over interest in SMU, Kansas, Hawaii and Louisiana Tech. He passed for 2797 yards and 27 touchdowns during the 2003 season.
