RB Scales selects Iowa St. over Iowa

Outstanding running back Jason Scales of West Des Moines-Valley, Ia., has chosen Iowa State over Iowa. Scales, who rushed for 2109 yards and 32 touchdowns as a senior, also considered Kansas and Northwestern.

Northwestern has commitments from defensive lineman Kevin Mims of The Woodlands, Tex., and tight end Ryan Cibulka of Roselle-Lake Park, Ill.

Big 12 Verbal List
Texas A&M pledged linebacker/defensive lineman Mark Young of Mount Pleasant, Tex.

Missouri pledged athlete/quarterback Julius Densmore of East St. Louis, Ill. The Tigers recently gained linebacker/running back Aaron O'Neal of Creve Coeur-Parkway North, Mo., over Minnesota.

Colorado pledged receiver/athlete Charlie Sherman of Sacramento-Foothill, Cal.

Offensive lineman Doug Smith of Houston-Jones, Tex., has given a commitment to Oklahoma State over Arkansas, Purdue, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.
