The first day of the Early Signing Period has seen three highly-touted prospects delay signing with top programs.

Texas and Indiana lead the 2004 Top Classes, but both had players wait for the Spring Period. Memphis may suffer the same fate.

Top 100 non-signers include center/forward LaMarcus Aldridge of Dallas-Seagoville, Tex., who will wait to sign with the Longhorns, forward James Hardy of Fort Wayne-Elmhurst, Ind., is delaying on the Hoosiers and forward Shawne Williams of Memphis-Hamilton, Tenn., who may still sign with Memphis, could wait until spring or consider other offers.

Aldridge said he plans to sign next spring and that delaying his decision has nothing to do with the NBA Draft. He added he was not considering attending other schools. Hardy may also play football at Indiana. If he signs in the spring, he could play both sports because it would come after football's signing day. Hardy could only play basketball by signing now.

Among the other leading programs are Louisville, Arkansas, Duke, Memphis, North Carolina, Florida, Missouri and UCLA. Georgia Tech, Connecticut, Kansas, Alabama, Mississippi State are also gaining powerful classes. Rankings are subject to change with additions, qualifying problems and the NBA Draft. Redshirt transfers are counted on Class 2003 scholarships.

Guard Joe Crawford of Detroit-Renaissance, Mich., who decommitted from Michigan, between the Wolverines and Kentucky.
Forward Davis Nwankwo of College Park-Georgetown Prep, Md., between Arizona, Stanford, Virginia, Georgia Tech and Miami-Florida.
Guard Kyle Lowry of Philadelphia-Cardinal Dougherty, Pa., between Arkansas and Villanova.

Forward Jeremy Parnell of Gosnell, Ark., decommitted from Oklahoma State, and signed with Mississippi.

Texas Tech has Class 2005 junior commitments from guard Calvin Johnson and center Kendrick Johnson, brothers from Morton, Tex.
