Top 100 forward Charles Thomas of Jackson-Callaway, Miss., has chosen Arkansas and Coach Stan Heath over Florida State, Georgia and Mississippi. The Razorbacks earlier gained Super Prospect forward/center Darian Townes of Hargrave MA, Va; Top 100 center Steven Hill of Branson, Mo; Top 100 forward Al Jefferson of Prentiss, Miss; and Super Prospect forward Marcus Monk of Lepanto, Ark., who will sign a football scholarship as a receiver and also play basketball. Top 100 JC forward Carl Landry of Milwaukee-Vincent, Wis/Vincennes CC, Ind., is headed to Purdue over Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida and Creighton, among others. The Boilermakers recently gained Top 100 JC forward/center Gary Ware of Detroit-Finney, Mich/Dodge City CC, Kan., over Colorado, Nebraska, Houston and Georgia. One of the nation's top guards, Sebastian Telfair of Brooklyn-Lincoln, NY., is expected to announce on Thursday afternoon (Oct. 16) between Louisville (expected) and the NBA Draft. Long believed headed to the Cardinals if he choses college basketball, Telfair would be the shortest player to attempt a move directly to the NBA and would be the first to announce it before his senior season in high school.
