Top 100 forward Joakim Noah of Lawrenceville-Lawrenceville Prep School, NJ., is headed to the Florida Gators. Among many others were Maryland, Virginia, Villanova, UConn, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, UCLA, Seton Hall, North Carolina State and St. John's. He is the son of tennis star Yannick Noah. The Gators recently gained Top 100 prospects Taurean Green, a guard from Bradenton-IMG Academy, Fla; and Corey Brewer, a forward from Portland, Tenn. Top 100 JC forward/center Gary Ware of Detroit-Finney, Mich/Dodge City CC, Kan., has committed to Purdue over Colorado, Nebraska, Houston and Georgia. Justin Holt, a Top 100 JC forward from Tacoma CC, Wash., picked Virginia Tech over interest from Tennessee. He originally signed with Oregon State as a prep and chose Iowa State in Class 2003. The Hokies recently gained Top 100 guard Marquie Cooke of Suffolk-Nansemond River, Va., over Clemson. Boston College has added forward/guard Gordon Watt of Evanston-Township, Ill. LSU gained forward Spencer Ford of Baton Rouge-Scotlandville, La/Dixie CC, Utah. The BYU Cougars pledged forward Trent Plaisted of San Antonio-Clark, Tex., over Florida State and Stanford. More Basketball News St. Mary's has a verbal from guard Ramone Wellington of Vallejo-Bethel, Cal., who averaged 23.5 points as a junior. Forward Larry Posey of Houston-Milby, Tex., committed to Texas-Arlington. Lamar gained guard Jeremy Long of Eastern Arizona CC, Ariz; and forward/guard Chuck Foster of Austin-L.B. Johnson, Tex. Hofstra pledged forward Adrian Uter of Broward CC, Fla. Guard/forward Kyle Carrabine of Naperville-Neuqua Valley, Ill., has pledged to William & Mary over Bowling Green and Colgate. Forward Rell Porter of Pittsburgh, Tex., pledged to Stephen F. Austin. Sophomore center Mario Boggan of Durham-Southern Durham, NC/Oak Hill Academy, Va/Hargrave MA, Va., has decided to transfer from Florida. He played in 16 games during 2002-03 as a true freshman. Bowling Green gained center/forward Scott Vandermeer of Tinley Park-Andrew, Ill., over Illinois-Chicago and Weber State. Drake has a verbal from forward Brent Hemmskerk of Grand Rapids-Christian, Mich. Albany has pledges from guard/forward Brian Lillis of West Des Moines-Dowling, Iowa; and forward Brent Wilson of Cedar Rapids-Prairie, Iowa.
