Outstanding Class 2004 guard Sundiata Gaines of Briarwood-Archbishop Molloy, NY., has committed to the Georgia Bulldogs over Pittsburgh and South Carolina, among others. The Bulldogs recently gained Top 100 guard Channing Toney of Snellville-Brookwood, Ga., over Clemson, Tennessee, North Carolina State and Gonzaga. Providence pledged Class 2004 forward/center Randall Hanke of New York, NY/Pottstown-Hill School, Pa/Pawling-Trinity Pawling, NY., over offers from Boston College and Dayton. Washington State added Class 2004 forward Daven Harmeling of Fruita-Fruita Monument, Colo., over interest in Colorado State. Class 2004 prospect Jermaine Calvin, a guard from Tempe-McClintock, Ariz., has committed to Utah and coach Rick Majerus. UNC-Wilmington has a commitment from Class 2004 center Vladimir Kuljanin of Toronto, Ont. The Seahawks recently gained guard Daniel Fountain of Woodbridge, Va. Radford has verbals from Class 2004 center Colby Trent of Richmond-Henrico, Va; and forward James Coley of Tampa, Fla/Hillsborough CC, Fla. Lipscomb has a commitment from Class 2004 guard Labrien Lyons of Murfreesboro-Riverdale, Tenn. Wright State has pledged Class 2004 center LaMorris Wallace of Markham, Ill/Midlothian-Bremen, Ill/Redlands CC, Okla/UW-Stout/Triton CC, Ill. Portland has pledged Class 2004 forward Marcus Lewis of Long Beach-Poly, Cal. Virginia Commonwealth has a commitment from Class 2004 guard Jamal Shuler of Jacksonville, NC. VCU recently gained forward Michael Anderson of Virginia Beach-Landstown, Va. Sixty-three prospects on the early Class 2004 Top 100 have already made commitments. Texas, Indiana and Alabama lead the very early 2004 Top Classes. Florida State led the 2003 Top Classes.
