One of the top prospects in Illinois, Class 2004 guard Jarryd Loyd of Skokie-Niles West, Ill., has picked Valparasio and coach Homer Drew. He averaged 15 points as a junior.
UNC-Wilmington has a commitment from Class 2004 forward Dylan Grimsley of Sioux City-Heelan, Ia., over offers from Indiana State, Miami-Ohio, Western Kentucky and Tulane. He also drew interest from Iowa.
Class 2004 forward Darian Townes of Alexandria-Williams, Va/Washington DC-Archbishop Carroll/Hargrave MA, Va., has decommitted from Georgetown.
The Minnesota Gophers announced that incoming freshman guard Wesley Washington of Santa Ana-Mater Dei, Cal., has returned home after his admission status was not finalized. He had originally committed to California, but the Bears withdrew an offer due to academic concerns.
Stephen F. Austin has a commitment from Class 2004 forward Scott Weaver of Lewisville-Hebron, Tex.
