One of the nation's top Class 2005 prospects, guard Greg Paulus (6-1 180) of Manlius-Christian Brothers Academy, NY., has committed to Duke over Notre Dame, North Carolina, Xavier and Syracuse. Paulus, also a highly-rated quarterback, will focus on basketball. He averaged 24.5 points as a sophomore. Dayton pledged Class 2004 forward Jimmy Binnie of Johnston, Iowa. Class 2004 forward Dane Watts of Warrensburg, Mo., has committed to Creighton. He averaged 22 points and nine rebounds as a junior. Class 2004 guard Dawin Whiten of Sepulveda-Monroe, Cal., picked Cal-Poly. Class 2003 center/forward Chris Adams of CC of San Francisco, Cal., who had signed with UNLV and then released, has stated he will enroll at Fresno State over San Diego State and Washington. Adams had earlier denied reports he was headed to Fresno. His first choice after UNLV was Cal State-Fullerton, but he was denied admission. Sixty prospects on the early Class 2004 Top 100 have already made commitments. Texas, Indiana and Alabama lead the very early 2004 Top Classes. Florida State led the 2003 Top Classes.
