ESPN.com: RECRUITING - Hodge: Notre Dame gets defensive

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have pledged Class 2004 defensive lineman Brandon Nicolas of Santa Ana-Mater Dei, Cal., over UCLA, Ohio State and Colorado, among many others.

Class 2004 offensive lineman Zak Stair of Manassas-Osbourn Park, Va., has given a commitment to Virginia over offers from Syracuse and Maryland.

Minnesota has a commitment from Class 2004 running back Dominique Barber of Plymouth-Wayzata, Minn.

Oregon pledged Class 2004 offensive lineman Max Unger of Kamuela-Hawaii Prep Academy, Hawaii.

BYU has a commitment from Class 2004 defensive lineman/tight end Matt Putnam of Brigham City-Box Elder, Utah.

Nevada has a commitment from Class 2004 offensive lineman Brad Eskew of Roseville, Cal.
