Class 2004 Top 100 forward Mohamed Tangara of Mali, West Africa/Mt. Zion Academy, NC., has committed to Arizona over Louisville, Miami-Florida and Memphis, among others.
Class 2005 guard Marcus Ginyard (6-4 180) of Arlington-Bishop O'Connell, Va., has committed to North Carolina. Outstanding Class 2004 forward/guard J.R. Smith, a Top 100 prospect from Newark-St. Benedict's Prep, NJ., recently committed to the Tar Heels and new head coach Roy Williams over North Carolina State, Pittsburg and Syracuse, among many others. He averaged 17.8 points and 5 rebounds as a junior.
Touted Class 2005 guard Eric Devendorf (6-3 180) of Bay City-Central, Mich., has chosen Michigan State. He averaged 23 points as a sophomore.
Outstanding Class 2005 guard Greg Paulus (6-2 180) of Manlius-Christian Brothers Academy, NY., is expected to announce between Duke, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Xavier and Syracuse. Paulus, also considered the nation's top quarterback prospect in his class, will play only basketball. He averaged 24.5 points as a sophomore.
West Virginia has a commitment from Class 2004 center/forward Luke Bonner of Manchester-Trinity, NH. He is the younger brother of former Florida star Matt Bonner.
College of Charleston has a commitment from Class 2004 forward Ben Brown of Richmond-Steward School, Va., over interest from Boston University, UMass, VCU and Coastal Carolina.
Class 2003 center/forward Chris Adams of CC of San Francisco, Cal., who had signed with UNLV and then released, is considering Fresno State, San Diego State, Washington and Alabama. Despite various reports, Adams has not given Fresno State a commitment. He was recently refused admission to Cal State-Fullerton.
Center Aliou Keita of Senegal, Africa/Iowa City-Regina, Ia., has transfered from Tulsa to Drake. He played in eight games for Tulsa last season as a freshman.
South Alabama has a commitment from Class 2004 guard Mario Jointer of Jackson-Hill, Miss/NW Mississippi CC, Miss/Chipola CC, Fla. He was once pledged to Mississippi.
Class 2003 center/forward Maurier Angui of Sudan/Phoenix-Washington, Ariz/Notre Dame Prep School, has chosen Portland State. He chose Bowling Green as a prep in Class 2002.
Indiana State has a commitment from Class 2004 center Mick Yelovich of Mt. Zion, Ill., over North Carolina-Wilmington, Southern Illinois and Illinois State.
St. Joseph's has a commitment from Class 2004 guard Abdulai Jalloh of Fort Washington-National Christian Academy, Md.
St. Bonaventure has a commitment from Class 2004 guard Isaiah Carson of Springfield-South, Ohio.
Northern Iowa has pledged Class 2004 forward Eric Coleman of Oakdale-Tartan, Minn.
Gonzaga pledged Class 2004 guard Pierre-Marie Altidor-Cespedes of Montreal/Champlain-St. Lambert, Ontario.
