The UCLA Bruins have pledged Class 2004 forward Lorenzo Mata of South Gate-South Gate Senior, Cal. Mata chose the Bruins after also receiving interest from Oregon, New Mexico, Long Beach State, Utah, Texas Tech and Arizona. He averaged 21.4 points, 14.3 rebounds and 4.5 blocks as a junior.
Class 2004 forward Josh Duncan of Cincinnati-Moeller, Ohio, committed to Xavier over Kentucky, Indiana, Wake Forest and Ohio State.
Class 2003 center/forward Chris Adams of CC of San Francisco, Cal., who had signed with UNLV, will play for Fresno State.
Outstanding Class 2004 forward Glen Davis of Baton Rouge-University Lab, La., is expected to announce on Thursday (Aug. 28) between LSU, North Carolina, Indiana, Georgia and Miami-Florida. Davis averaged 23.8 points and 12 rebounds as a junior.
UTEP pledged Class 2004 guard Vernon Carr of Detroit-Redford, Mich.
Forward Jason McCoy of Houston-Milby, Tex., is transfering from Rutgers to Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Class 2003 guard Brandon Morris of Kenosha, Wis/Iowa Western CC, Iowa, who signed with St. Louis during the early period and did not qualify, will play for Wisconsin-Green Bay.
