Defensive lineman/linebacker Chenry Lewis of Paterson-Catholic, NJ., has committed to the Pittsburgh Panthers over offers from Boston College and Rutgers. The Panthers recently gained offensive lineman Dave Weber of King of Prussia-Upper Merion, Pa., over offers from Syracuse, Rutgers, Georgia Tech and Northwestern.
Receiver/defensive back Grant Mason of Pontiac-St. Mary's Prep, Mich., who recently left Stanford, is headed to Michigan. He caught 23 passes for 154 yards as a redshirt freshman last season.
Minnesota has a commitment from Class 2004 tight end Jack Simmons of Mundelein-Carmel, Ill., over Northwestern and Michigan State.
