Class 2003 Top 100 center/forward Walter Waters of Detroit-Southeastern, Mich., who was released by Pittsburgh, has enrolled at Cleveland State. He is appealing to the NCAA clearinghouse to be ruled eligible to play this season.
Class 2003 guard Antonio Graves of Mansfield, Ohio, signed with Pittsburgh.
Class 2003 Top 100 center Julius Lamptey of Oklahoma City-Northeast, Okla/New Hampton School, NH., did not meet eligibility requirements and will not play at Arkansas this season. He is expected to enroll in junior college.
Forward Elgrace Wilborn of Springfield-South, Ohio, has announced his intention to play for Nebraska. He was dismissed from Tennessee after breaking the jaw of teammate Brandon Crump. Wilborn, who averaged 2.9 points and 4.7 rebounds last year as a sophomore, must sit out 2003-04 and will have two seasons remaining if admitted to Nebraska. His court date is Feb. 4, 2004.
Vanderbilt has a commitment from Class 2004 guard/forward DeMarre' Carroll of Birmingham-John Carroll Catholic, Ala., over UAB, North Carolina State and Auburn.
Utah pledged Class 2004 forward Brian Anderson of Lamar, Colo., over Wyoming. Among other schools showing interest were Colorado State, New Mexico, Stanford, Washington, Kansas State and Baylor. He will first go on mission.
Kent has a commitment from Class 2004 guard Marcus Crenshaw of Detroit-Mackenzie, Mich.
Drexel has pledged Class 2004 guard Randy Hampton of Washington, DC-Dunbar.
Fifty-seven prospects on the early Class 2004 Top 100 have already made commitments.
