As expected, Top 100 forward Al Jefferson, a Class 2004 prospect from Prentiss, Miss., has committed to Arkansas following a visit on campus. He chose the Razorbacks over LSU, Florida, Florida State and Alabama.

Jefferson, who averaged 37 points and 18 rebounds as a junior, is considered one of the top five players in Class 2004. Arkansas earlier gained a pledge from Top 100 center Steven Hill of Branson, Mo.

Class 2004 forward Donta Smith of LaGrange-Oldham County, Kty/Southeastern Illinois CC, Ill., pledged to Louisville. Regarded as one of the nation's top junior college prospects, he averaged 16 points and seven rebounds last season.

Duke has a commitment from Class 2004 Top 100 forward Dave McClure of Stamford-Trinity Catholic, Conn., over Notre Dame. The Blue Devils earlier gained Top 100 guard DeMarcus Nelson of Vallejo, Cal.

Freshman starting forward Adam Haluska of Carroll, Ia., who was granted a release from Iowa State, is transfering to Iowa. Haluska started all 31 games last season for the Cyclones and averaged 9.2 points. He was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team.

Touted Class 2005 guard Jarret Smith (6-1) of Westland-John Glenn, Mich., has committed to the Michigan Wolverines.

Top 100 forward Kris Humphries, a Class 2003 prospect from Minnetonka-Hopkins, Minn., who received a release from his signed letter to Duke, is considering Minnesota and has visited Indiana and Iowa State. Humphries averaged 25.5 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, five steals and 2.5 blocks as a senior. He was named Mr. Basketball in Minnesota and to the Parade and McDonald's All American teams.

Florida State leads the 2003 Top Classes. Due to late signings and entries in the NBA Draft, final rankings will be determined in late June.

Although the period for signing letters-of-intent which binds both parties has ended, players may still sign letters-of-agreement, which binds the school and not the athlete.

The NBA selected only one high school and a single junior college prospect: Center/forward Amare Stoudemire of Orlando-Cypress Creek, Fla., was taken 9th in the first round by Phoenix, while Portland took forward Qyntel Woods of Northeast Mississippi CC, Miss., at No. 21 in the first round. The NBA passed on three other high school/prep school prospects and seven JC players (List).
