Giving the Longhorns a tremendous Class 2004 with four Top 100 prospects,
forward Mike Williams of Camden-Central Wilcox,
Ala., has chosen Texas over Florida and Alabama. He
averaged 26 points and 14 rebounds as a junior.
Texas earlier gained Top 100 pledges from center/forward LaMarcus Aldridge of Dallas-Seagoville,
Tex; guard Daniel Gibson of Houston-Jones, Tex; and
forward Dion Dowell of Texas City, Tex. Also
headed for the Horns is forward Connor Atchley of Houston-Clear Lake,
Tex.
Top 100 forward/guard Robert Vaden, a Class 2004 prospect from
Indianapolis-Pike, Ind., has committed to the Indiana Hoosiers and coach Mike Davis.
Vaden, who recently decommitted from Purdue, averaged 13.5 points, 5.9
rebounds and 2.9 assists in helping Pike to a 29-0 record and the 4A state
championship.
Top 100 forward Kris Humphries, a Class 2003
prospect from Minnetonka-Hopkins, Minn., who received a qualified release
from his signed letter to Duke, is considering Minnesota
(expected), Indiana, Iowa State and Kansas. Humphries averaged 25.5 points,
12 rebounds, five assists, five steals and 2.5 blocks as a senior. He was
named Mr. Basketball in Minnesota and to the Parade and McDonald's All
American teams.
UNLV signed Class 2003 guard Jerel Blassingame of Brooklyn,
NY/Los Angeles CC, Cal. The Rebels also gained a Class 2004
commitment from forward Wilbur Williams of Los Angeles CC, Cal.
Northern Arizona signed Class 2003
center Joakim Kjellbom of Hedbergska,
Sweden/Irvine Valley CC, Cal.
Class 2003 guard DeShawn Anderson of
Fresno-Washington, Cal/Fresno City CC, Cal., will walk-on at Portland State.

the first round. The NBA passed on three other high school/prep school
