By Bill Hodge
CollegeSports.com

Top 100 forward Mohamed Abukar, a Class 2003 prospect from Escondido-Rancho Bernardo, Cal., has signed with the Florida Gators over Kentucky. Abukar, who earlier decommitted from Georgia, had also considered Louisville, Missouri and UCLA, among others. He averaged 28.7 points and 12.7 rebounds as a senior.

Class 2003 forward Sean Phaler of Villa Park, Cal., who signed with UCLA under coach Steve Lavin last fall, has been encouraged by new coach Ben Howland to enroll elsewhere because he no longer fits in the Bruins' plans. Phaler was informed he'd have little chance of playing, but his scholarship would be honored. Howland considers the prospect (6-9 185) too thin for power forward and too slow for small forward.

Quinnipiac signed Class 2003 forward Pierre Faye of Senegal/Trinity CC, Tex.

Evansville signed Class 2003 guard Robert Nelson of Elyria, Ohio.

Murray State signed Class 2003 guard Adam Chiles of Louisville-Ballard, Kty/Kentucky/Vincinnes CC, Ind. He played at Kentucky as a freshman.

Chicago State signed Class 2003 center DeMario Williams of Chicago-Fenger, Ill.

Eastern Illinois signed Class 2003 center Aaron Harrison of Chicago-Steinmetz, Ill/Triton CC, Ill.

Eric Young, a Class 2003 forward from Savannah, Ga/Southeastern Illinois CC, Ill., has signed with Austin Peay.

Idaho State signed Class 2003 forward Carl Lee of Queens, NY/Fresno City CC, Cal; and guard Logan Kinghorn of Ribgy, Idaho/Mission.

Wyoming signed Class 2003 guards Tim Henry of Orem-Mountain View, Utah/Mission/Salt Lake City CC, Utah., and Henry Sherrell of Detroit-Ford, Mich/Wichita State/Schoolcraft CC, Mich.
