Utah has signed Class 2003 forward Jonas Langvad of Denmark. Langvad averaged 19.9 points and 4.7 rebounds last season for SISU Hellerup Kopenhagen in the Danish League. He played for the Danish Under-20 National Team in 2000, the Danish National Team in 2001 and was named MVP of the Danish National Cup Finals in 2000.
Class 2004 guard Charlie White of Jackson-Provine, Miss., has pledged to Mississippi State over offers from Mississippi and Jackson State. White was named Mississippi's Mr. Basketball after leading Provine to the Class 4A state championship last season as a junior.
Saint Louis has a commitment from Class 2004 guard Dwayne Polk of St. Louis-Vashon, Mo., over Valparaiso. The Billikens recently signed Class 2003 center Ian Vouyoukas of Athens-Ilisiakos Club, Greece, who has been selected for the Greek 19-and-under national team.
St. Joseph's has added 7-0 Class 2003 center Artur Surov of Finland/Savannah-Memorial Day, Ga. The Hawks recently signed Class 2003 forward Arvydas Lidzius of Lithuania/Rockville-Montrose Christian, Md.
Akron has signed Class 2003 guard Mario Collins of Columbus, Ohio/Glen Oaks CC, Mich/Kirtland CC, Mich.
Ball State signed Class 2003 forward Terrance Chapman of Joliet, Ill/Lincoln CC, Ill.
Maryland-Eastern Shore signed Class 2003 forward Jareem Dowling of The Virgin Islands/Cecil CC, Md.
Class 2003 guard Randy Minto of Brooklyn-Roosevelt, NY., has signed with Canisius.
Class 2003 guard Brandon Key of Aiken, SC/Western Nebraska CC, Neb., signed with Winthrop.
Louisiana-Monroe signed Class 2003 forward Olivier Haranga of Cameroon/Western Nebraska CC, Neb., and guard Tony Helton of El Paso, Tex/Western Nebraska CC, Neb.
Class 2003 guard Darel Lucas of Wichita, Kan/Redlands CC, Okla., signed with Binghamton.
Buffalo added Class 2003 forward Parnell Smith of Indianapolis-Pike, Ind.
Class 2003 guard D'Andre McGrew of Salina, Kan/Cloud County CC, Kan., picked Georgia State.
Guard Jonathan Patton, a Class 2003 prospect from Picayune, Miss/Redlands CC, Okla., chose Southeastern Louisiana.
Class 2003 Top 100 forward Charlie Villanueva of Blairstown-Blair Academy, NJ., who decommitted from Illinois, is now considering the NBA, Kansas, UConn, Indiana, North Carolina and UCLA. Former Illinois coach Bill Self is now at Kansas.
Sophomore forward Ed Nelson of Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas, Fla., who is transfering from Georgia Tech, is considering UConn, Boston College and UMass.
Top 100 Class 2003 center Darryl Watkins of Paterson-Paterson Catholic, NJ., is near a decision between Rutgers, Syracuse and Seton Hall. North Carolina, Kentucky and Villanova had shown interest.
Class 2003 Top 100 forward Alexander Johnson of Albany-Dougherty, Ga/Bridgton Academy, Maine, is nearing a decision between Florida State, Cincinnati and UConn. He averaged 25 points and 13 rebounds last season.
