Touted Class 2004 forward Rob Kurz of Philadelphia-Penn Charter, Pa., is headed to Notre Dame over Indiana and Villanova. Among many others were North Carolina State, Stanford, Syracuse, UConn, Virginia, Georgia Tech and St. Joseph's. He averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds as a junior.
The USC Trojans have a commitment from Class 2004 guard Gabriel Pruitt of Los Angeles-Westchester, Cal.
South Carolina signed Class 2003 guard Josh Gonner of Fort Worth, Tex/Hutchinson CC, Kan.
Class 2003 forward Marcus Jackson of Peoria, Ill/South Plains CC, Tex., signed with Marquette. He had earlier picked Georgia, but was released following the coaching change.
Saint Louis signed Class 2003 center Ian Vouyoukas of Athens-Ilisiakos Club, Greece, who has been selected for the Greek 19-and-under national team.
Penn State signed Class 2003 guard Marlon Smith of Bronx, NY/Brairwood-Archbishop Malloy, NY.
Baylor gained Class 2003 guard Carl Marshall of Chicago-Crane, Ill.
UTEP signed Class 2003 forward Omar Thomas of Philadelphia-Strawberry Mansion, Pa/Panola CC, Tex., who led NJCAA Division-I in scoring with a 36.1 average and was second in rebounding at 17. Guard Sheldon Pace of Chaffey CC, Cal., who chose UTEP last fall, was granted a requested release.
Center Cassiano Matheus, a Class 2003 prospect from Brazil/South Plains CC, Tex., has signed with Utah State. He had earlier signed with Georgia, but was released following the coaching change.
Class 2003 guard James Holmes of Schoolcraft CC, Mich., has signed with South Florida. USF released guard Ricardo Freeman of Seward CC, Kan., from his letter.
Florida Atlantic has addeded Class 2003 guard Darren Dickerson of Wilmington, NC/Southeastern Illinois CC, Ill.
Lamar signed Class 2003 guard Teddy Davis of Durham, NC/Southeastern Illinois CC, Ill.
Class 2003 guard Willie Depron of Southwest Mississippi, Miss., signed with Nicholls State.
Guard Brandon Daniels, a Class 2003 prospect from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Okla., signed with Bethune-Cookman.
Western Carolina has signed Class 2003 forward Lunzaya Nlandu of Montreal-Vanier, Quebec/Northeastern/Santa Fe CC, Fla. He played on the Canadian Junior National Team during 1997-2000.
New Mexico State signed Class 2003 forward/center Andre Scott of Mitchellville, Md/Rhode Island/Schoolcraft CC, Mich. He averaged four points and 4.3 rebounds during his freshman year at Rhode Island.
Old Dominion has gained Class 2003 guard Drew Williamson of Burlington-Cummings, NC.
Princeton has added Class 2003 guard Mike Rudoy of Chicago-Latin, Ill., over interest from Utah and UMass. He averaged 24 points and 13 rebounds last season.
Stephen F. Austin signed Class 2003 forward Rodrigo Segantim of Sao Paulo, Brazil/Western Nebraska CC, Neb. SFA recently added Class 2003 guards Leonard Brown of Jacksonville College, Tex; and Tim Simon of Navarro CC, Tex.
High Point signed five Class 2003 prospects, including guard Landon Quick of High Point-Southwest Guilford, NC; forward Dwayne Martin of Greensboro-Western Guilford, NC; guard/forward Jorsua Chambers of Panama/Dixie State CC, Utah; forward Jerry Echenique of Honduras/Highland CC, Ill; and guard Javier Palacios of Panama/Highland CC, Ill.
Top 100 forward Charlie Villanueva of Blairstown-Blair Academy, NJ., who decommitted from Illinois, is now considering the NBA, Kansas, Illinois, UConn, Indiana, North Carolina and UCLA. Former Illinois coach Bill Self is now at Kansas.
Class 2004 forward/guard Robert Vaden of of Indianapolis-Pike, Ind., has decommitted from Purdue. Vaden, who chose the Boilermakers as a freshman, is now considering Purdue, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Kansas, Louisville, Florida and Kentucky.
Sophomore forward Ed Nelson of Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas, Fla., who is transfering from Georgia Tech, is considering UConn, Boston College and UMass.
Top 100 Class 2003 center Darryl Watkins of Paterson-Paterson Catholic, NJ., is near a decision between Rutgers, Syracuse and Seton Hall. North Carolina, Kentucky and Villanova had shown interest.
Class 2003 Top 100 forward Alexander Johnson of Albany-Dougherty, Ga/Bridgton Academy, Maine, is nearing a decision between Florida State, Cincinnati and UConn. He averaged 25 points and 13 rebounds last season.
