Guard Darius Washington of Orlando-Edgewater, Fla., the state's leading player in Class 2004 and one of the Top 10 prospects in the nation, has committed to the Memphis Tigers.
Washington was recruited by virtually every college, including such powers as Indiana, Florida State, North Carolina State, UConn, Miami, Arizona, UCLA, Washington, South Florida, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Kentucky. He averaged 30.1 points last season and was one of only four juniors named to the 2003 Parade All-American team.
UConn has gained Class 2003 forward Ryan Thompson of Gold Coast, Australia/Western Nebraska CC, Neb., who also drew interest from Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, BYU and Wyoming.
Forward Connor Atchley of Houston-Clear Lake, Tex., has chosen the Texas Longhorns.
Washington State has Class 2003 guard Anthony Grant of Seattle-Franklin, Wash/Eastern Utah CC.
Lamar has gained Class 2003 guard Gil Goodrich of Panola CC, Tex.
Class 2003 guard Todd Abernethy of Carmel/Indianapolis-Heritage Christian, Ind., who averaged 28.1 points as a senior, has signed with Mississippi. His father, Tom, played on the 1976 Indiana team that posted a 32-0 record and won the NCAA title.
Temple signed Class 2003 guard Dustin Salisbery of Lancaster-McCaskey, Pa., who averaged 22.3 points as a senior.
Freshman guard Nic Wise (5-9) of Katy-Cincho Ranch/Fort Bend-Hightower, Tex., became the youngest player in the state to make a commitment when the Class 2006 prospect pledged to Arizona over Texas. Wise, 15, averaged 9 points as a reserve last season. He recently transferred to Hightower where his father Greg Wise is head coach.
Anthony King, a Class 2003 forward/center from Durham-Southern Durham, NC., signed with Miami-Florida. He averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds as a senior.
Class 2003 guard/forward Daryl Mason of Bryan, Tex/Texas A&M/San Jacinto CC, Tex., signed with Louisiana-Monroe over TCU, Southern Mississippi and Southwest Missouri State.
Kent State has a commitment from Class 2004 forward Isaac Knight of Detroit-Crockett, Mich.
Creighton signed Class 2003 guard Johnny Mathies of Louisville, Kty/Dixie State CC, Utah.
Class 2003 guard Tim Henry of Orem/Salt Lake CC, Utah, has signed with Wyoming.
American gained Class 2003 guard Andre Ingram of Richmond-Highland Springs, Va.
Class 2003 forward Clint Deas of Garner, NC/Southern Idaho CC, Idaho, has signed with Appalachian State.
Murray State has signed Class 2003 forward Kelvin Brown of Lauderhill/Ft. Lauderdale-Dillard, Fla/South Florida/Fort Scott CC, Kan.
Holy Cross gained Class 2003 guard Torey Thomas of White Plains, NY/Stamford-Trinity Catholic, Conn.
Touted Class 2003 forward Alexander Johnson of Albany-Dougherty, Ga/Bridgton Academy, Maine, is near a decision between Florida State, Cincinnati and UConn. He averaged 25 points and 13 rebounds last season.
