Perhaps the tallest prospect to ever commit to the Wildcats, Top 100 center Shagari Alleyne of New York-Rice, NY., has pledged to Kentucky.
Alleyne (7-3), who averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds as a senior, recently decommitted from Rutgers. He is the third Class 2003 player to choose the Wildcats, joining forwards Sheray Thomas of Upper Marlboro-Riverdale Baptist, Md., and Bobby Perry of Durham-Hillside, N.C., who signed during the early period last fall.
Texas Tech has signed three Class 2003 prospects, including guard Jay Jackson of Monroe, La; guard/forward Curtis Marshall of Florissant-McCluer, Mo/New Mexico Military Insitute, NM; and forward Joseph Works of San Antonio-Sam Houston, Tex/Garden City CC, Kan.
Toledo has signed Class 2003 forwards Keonta Howell of Jackson, Mich; and Florentino Valencia of Chicago-Crane, Ill.
Class 2003 forward Damion Staple of Kingston, Jamaica/Southeastern Illinois CC, Ill., has signed with Iowa State after decommitting from Western Kentucky. The Cyclones recently gained forward Reggie George of Palos Heights-Shepard, Ill/Fitchburg-Notre Dame Prep, Mass.
Eastern Illinois has signed Class 2003 forward Aaron Patterson of Indianapolis-Warren Central, Ind/Barton County CC, Kan/St. Catharine CC, Kty.
Robert Morris signed Class 2003 forward Mark Anderson of Topeka, Kan/Coffeyville CC, Kan.
New Orleans added Class 2003 center Jacque Pate of Oxon Hill, Md/Howard CC, Tex.
Class 2003 forward Kelvin Williams of Cedar Hill, Tex., chose Sam Houston State.
Class 2003 center Steve Castleberry of Dixie CC, Utah, picked Rider over Maine.
Marist has signed Class 2003 forward Ryan Stilphen of Cleveland-St. Ignatius, Ohio.
