Former Husker pledge signs with USC

Southern California has signed Class 2003 guard Quinton Day of Kansas City-Paseo Academy, Mo., who had earlier decommitted from Nebraska.

Touted Class 2003 forward/center Lorenzo Thompson of Chicago-Crane, Ill., signed with DePaul. He was a fall commitment.

UMass has gained Class 2003 forward Lawrence Carrier of Colton, Cal/Salisbury School, Conn., over Colorado. Carrier, whose stock fell because of numerous injuries, is expected to sit out his freshman season because of academics.

BYU has signed Class 2003 guard Mike Hall of San Bernardino, Cal/Dixie State CC, Utah.

Ohio signed Class 2003 forward Terren Harbut of Lexington, Kty/Dixie State CC, Utah.

Evansville signed freshman forward Tyler Best of Lafayette-Central Catholic, Ind., who is transfering from Charlotte; and Class 2003 forward/center Bradley Strickland of Atlanta-Lakeside, Ga.

New Mexico State has signed Class 2003 forward Jeff Jones of San Ramone, Cal/San Jose City CC, Cal.

Freshman forward Kyle Wilson of Plano, Tex., has been released by Illinois and is expected to enroll at Wichita State. He played in 18 games last season and had a 2.6 scoring average.

Class 2003 center Jay Neukomm of Edna, Tex., signed with Texas-Arlington.

7-1 center Bryce Husak of Mt. Vernon, Ia., who was a fall signee with Elon, has received a requested release following the coaching change.

Nevada signed Class 2003 forward Jermaine Washington of Columbia, SC/South Plains CC, Tex.

Baylor signed forward Harvey Thomas of Fredericksburg, Va/Georgetown/Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Okla.

Charlotte signed forwards Dedric Spooner of Milwaukee, Wis/Colby CC, Kan; and P.J. Pigford of Wilmington-East Columbus, NC/Lon Morris CC, Tex.

Colorado State added Class 2003 guard Dwight Boatner of Lake Charles-Barbe, La.

Denver signed Class 2003 forward Antonio Porch of Aurora-Denver East, Colo.

Louisiana-Monroe signed two Class 2003 prospects in forward Isaac Gay of Brusly, La; and guard RoShon Jacobs of Baton Rouge-Woodlawn, La.

LeBron James scored 27 points in leading the East over the West, 122-107, in the 26th annual McDonald's All-American high school basketball game in Cleveland, Ohio. McDonald's All-American Game stories/Rosters for 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000.

Over 820 Class 2003 prospects have made commitments or signed scholarship papers. Signings and commitments by conferences. The early period ran Nov. 13-20 and the late period is Apr. 16-May 15.

Arizona, Duke, Maryland, Illinois and Kansas lead the Early 2003 Top Classes.
