Cardinal, Yellow Jackets nab prospects

One of the nation's top receiver prospects, Mark Bradford of Los Angeles-Fremont, Cal., chose Stanford over Southern California. Among many others were LSU, Notre Dame and UCLA. The Cardinal also gained offensive/defensive lineman David Jackson of Norcross-Wesleyan, Ga.

Top 150 defensive back Kenny Scott of Daytona Beach-Seabreeze, Fla., has committed to Georgia Tech over Tennessee and Florida State. The Yellow Jackets also gained defensive back Brian Fleuridor of Boca Raton, Fla.

Oklahoma pledged Super Prospect offensive lineman Brandon Keith of McAlester, Okla., over Oklahoma State. The Sooners recently gained Super Prospect running back Tashard Choice of Lovejoy, Ga., over Mississippi State, Oregon State, Alabama and Stanford; and running back/athlete Jacob Gutierrez of San Antonio-Madison, Tex., over Kansas.

The early football signing period for mid-year qualifiers was Dec. 18-Jan 15. The spring period is Feb. 5-Apr. 1. Search the list of Prospects/Commitments/Signings/By Conference.

LSU, Southern California, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Miami-Florida and North Carolina State lead the Early Top Classes.

Big 12:
Receiver Bryan Baldwin of St. Louis-Cardinal Ritter, Mo., picked Kansas State over Iowa and Kansas. The Wildcats also gained defensive lineman M.L. Latimore of Manhattan, Kan.

Oklahoma State added receiver Eddie Brown of New Orleans-Fortier, La., over Michigan State. The Cowboys recently gained tight end Paschal Smith of Dallas-Carter, Tex.

Baylor has a pledge from offensive lineman John Mahaffey of Tyler-Lee, Tex., who decommitted from Arizona. The Bears recently gained a pledge from 355-pound offensive lineman Chris Evans of Dallas-Carter, Tex.

Colorado has a pledge defensive back Terry Washington of St. Louis-Cleveland, Mo., over interest from Indiana, Iowa and Kansas. The Buffs recently gained Super Prospect defensive back Chris Russell of Nashville-Hillsboro, Tenn., who decommitted from Tennessee.

Defensive back John Randle of Wichita-Southeast, Kan., picked Kansas over Michigan State, Colorado, Missouri and Kansas State. Defensive lineman Michael Pruitt of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Okla., recently decommitted from the Jayhawks to North Texas.

Big East:
Quarterback Cory Holt of Lexington, NC., committed to Virginia Tech over Wake Forest. He will first attend Hargrave Military Academy, Va. The Hokies recently gained Top 150 linebacker Vince Hall of Chesapeake-Western Branch, Va., over North Carolina.

ACC:
Wake Forest has a pledge from defensive lineman/tight end Zach Stukes of Marietta-Sprayberry, Ga. The Deacons recently gained quarterback/defensive back Bruce Hall of Milton, Fla.

SEC:
The Florida Gators added defensive lineman Michael Hill of Smiths-Smiths Station, Ala., who decommitted from Alabama.

Defensive back Jon Hefney of Rock Hill, SC., picked Tennessee over South Carolina.

Ko Simpson, a defensive back from Rock Hill, SC., pledged to South Carolina. The Gamecocks recently added Ryan Brown, a Super Prospect linebacker from Moncks Corner-Berkeley, SC., over Clemson.

Linebacker Mike Heard of Lovejoy, Ga., committed to Mississippi State.

Conf-USA:
Southern Mississippi pledged quarterback Jeremy Young of Jackson-Provine, Miss., over Mississippi and Mississippi State.

East Carolina added defensive lineman Todd Springfield of Lovejoy, Ga.

UAB pledged linebacker Jeffrey Williams of Tallahassee-Lincoln, Fla.

MAC:
Defensive lineman Jamaal Whyce of Miami-Central, Fla/Hargrave MA, Va/Butler County CC, Kan., committed to Marshall. He originally signed with Auburn as a prep, but did not qualify.

WAC:
Defensive back Tu Tui of Kahuku, Hawaii, committed to Hawaii.

Fresno State has defensive back/athlete Damon Jenkins of Concord-De La Salle, Cal; receiver Chico Mackey of West Los Angeles CC, Cal; offensive lineman Noah Pouono of Long Beach CC, Cal; defensive lineman Kevin Cooper of Lakeport-Clear Lake, Cal; and defensive lineman/linebacker Keith Venson of Oakland-McClymonds, Cal.

Mountain West:
Colorado State has commitments from offensive linemen Erik Sandie of Concord-DeLaSalle, Cal., and Daniel Crews of Las Vegas, Nev.

Utah pledged receiver Thomas Huff of Phoenix-Camelback, Ariz.

Pac-10:
The Arizona Wildcats pledged defensive back Michael Beach of Los Angeles-Fremont, Cal., over Oregon State and Utah.

Washington has a verbal from running back Louis Rankin of Stockton-Lincoln, Cal., over California, Colorado, Oregon State, Fresno State and Boise State.

UCLA pledged defensive back Milvon James of Los Angeles-Fremont, Cal., who decommitted from Oregon. The Bruins recently added linebacker William Snead of Oakland-Skyline, Cal., over California and Arizona State, among others.
